COSME accepting applications for Caribbean OCT Crowdfunding Training

ROAD TOWN, BVI, August 3, 2017 – COSME, through funding provided by the European Union will be sponsoring 18 Caribbean OCT entrepreneurs to learn about crowdfunding. This 8 session crowdfunding training will focus on growing the entrepreneurs’ audience, developing a crowdfunding campaign and launching the pitch. This will take place through online one-on-one and group coaching sessions.

Crowdfunding has become a viable method to raise needed capital online through a large number of people donating small amounts of money to finance a business venture. COSME recognises the value crowdfunding can offer rising entrepreneurs, especially with small Caribbean OCT populations.

COSME expects the demand for the Crowdfunding programme to be high and has implemented an application process to assess and validate candidates fit to be successful in the training.

"COSME is excited to launch this ‘Accelerating Crowdfunding’ initiative.  Crowdfunding is an exciting and innovative way to fund start-ups and promote growth, bypassing the traditional institutional financing mechanisms.  But it is not about collecting money. It is about using a ‘crowd’ to solve problems and create value.  It gives normal people like you and me (not rich people) a position of influence in the marketplace. It is my hope that the formal private sector and Governments will come on board and create the environment that would enable the growth of Crowdfunding as a credible enterprise financing alternative," said Michael Seepersaud, COSME Team Leader and Key Expert.

To be part of this exciting opportunity, entrepreneurs must reside and conduct business in one of the Caribbean OCTs. Entrepreneurs must complete the online application by August 11, 2017 by clicking here:  http://bit.ly/OCT_Crowdfunding
